Position Title: Director, Human Capital Development


Location: Lagos

Reports to: Managing Director, BUA Cement

Internal Customers : Heads of Department

Job Overview


The Director of Human Capital Development leads the strategy, design, and implementation of programs that drive employee growth, engagement, and organizational performance. This role is responsible for talent development, leadership training, and leading the BUA Cement technical academy. The Director will partner closely with executive leadership to build a high-performing, future-ready workforce aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive human capital strategy to attract, retain, and develop top talent.

  • Lead organizational development initiatives, including leadership development programs, mentorship initiatives, and skills development.

  • Building streams of talents for succession in the organization

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to identify talent gaps and create targeted development strategies.

  • Measure the effectiveness of talent development programs and continuously improve based on feedback and performance data.

  • Promote a culture of learning, innovation, diversity, and inclusion across the organization.

  • Manage a team of learning and development professionals and external consultants as needed.

  • Facilitate a talent ready program for all departments in the Cement organization.

  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in talent management, leadership development, and organizational design.

Qualification/Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree holder, member of a professional body and other certifications are added advantage.

  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in human capital development, talent management, or related disciplines.

  • Proven leadership experience in designing and implementing development and succession programs.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate organizational goals into talent strategies.

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Certification in leadership assessments, coaching, or talent management frameworks (e.g., Korn Ferry, Hogan, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
