BUA CEMENT COMMEMORATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026 WITH TREE PLANTING, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND CLIMATE ACTION DISCUSSIONS

BUA Cement Plc joined the global community in commemorating World Environment Day 2026 with a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, climate action, and community participation under the theme, "Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Our Future."

As part of the celebration, the Company conducted tree-planting exercise within its plant premises to strengthen its green belt and support biodiversity conservation. The initiative reinforces BUA Cement's commitment to reducing environmental impact and contributing to climate resilience through nature-based solutions.

To extend environmental awareness beyond the workplace, BUA Cement engaged host communities through radio programmes broadcast in both English and local dialects. The programmes focused on the importance of tree planting, environmental cleanliness, proper waste management, and the collective role of communities in protecting the environment. Children and youth from the communities actively participated in the awareness campaign, demonstrating growing interest in environmental stewardship.

The Company also hosted a stakeholder engagement and panel discussion featuring environmental consultants and climate experts who examined key environmental issues, sustainability practices, and opportunities for strengthening climate action within industrial operations and host communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Management reaffirmed BUA Cement's commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility, noting that the Company will continue to implement initiatives that promote environmental protection, climate resilience, and long-term value creation for its stakeholders and host communities.
